Title IX

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states:

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”

Washtenaw Community College does not discriminate against persons on the basis of sex in its educational programs and activities.

Title IX Coordinator

The Title IX law requires Washtenaw Community College, if notified or has knowledge of an incident, to take immediate and appropriate steps to investigate or otherwise determine what occurred. The Title IX Coordinator will act to prevent, address and eliminate all forms of sex (gender) based discrimination and harassment, which include sexual harassment, sexual violence, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking.

Questions about Title IX may be referred to the Title IX Coordinator or to the Vice President, Labor Relations and Chief Human Resources Officer.

Any person may report conduct prohibited by this policy to the Title IX Coordinator or to the Vice President, Labor Relations and Chief Human Resources Officer.
