Carl Weckerle

Carl Weckerle is the Vice President of Economic, Workforce, and Community Development at Washtenaw Community College, where he leads employer partnerships, workforce training, lifelong learning, entrepreneurship, Small Business and Development Center, conference services, and skilled trades. In this role, Carl connects education with regional economic needs, building talent pipelines that align with employer demand and strengthening the college's role as a community and economic anchor in Washtenaw County and Southeast Michigan.

Carl previously served as Dean of Academic Services at WCC, leading the Center for Interactive Teaching & Learning (Online Technologies and Instructional Design & Digital Learning), Curriculum and Assessment, Instructional Operations, Professional Development, and Learning Resources. With over 20 years of experience across higher education, workforce development, and K-12 education, he has held roles including dean, director, consultant, training director, faculty member, instructional designer, and teacher, with earlier workforce leadership at Macomb Community College and statewide work with the Michigan Community College Association.

Carl holds a Master of Education in Instructional Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Wayne State University, and has completed all Ph.D. coursework in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology at Michigan State University. He also holds a Talent Pipeline Management certification and serves on advisory groups across the higher education, workforce, and K-12 sectors.
