Peter Leshkevich

Peter Leshkevich currently serves as the Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Experience at Washtenaw Community College (WCC) in Ann Arbor, Michigan. An alumnus of WCC, Peter's journey is a testament to the transformative power of education. Starting as a GED student at WCC, he went on to graduate with an Associate's Degree from WCC before earning his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Business Administration from Cleary University. He is living proof that Washtenaw Community College provides each and every student who walks through its doors an opportunity to create a better life.

Grateful for the opportunities WCC has offered him, Peter has dedicated his career to giving back to the students and serving the college in multiple capacities. He has been fortunate to wear many hats: from Part-Time Student Orientation Assistant, to College Projects Technical Assistant to the President, to Director of Student Development and Activities, and eventually to his current position as Dean. This wide-ranging experience gives him a unique, ground-level perspective that has helped to develop his lens of leadership. He feels each role has been a learning experience that has prepared him to better serve the WCC community.

Peter has been particularly touched by his time as an Advisor to Phi Theta Kappa, where he has been able to witness firsthand the potential of WCC's students as they grow into future leaders. He has received the WCC Ally Award, an honor he sees as a community achievement more than an individual one, reflecting WCC's collective commitment to celebrating diversity. Through his time as the Director of Student Life, his team collaborated with non-profit partners to help raise over $10 million for charitable endeavors and bring over 30,000 community members to campus for charitable events—a feat he regards as a testament to the generosity of WCC.

Serving as Part-Time Credit Faculty in both the Business Department and Academic and Career Skills, Peter has found immense satisfaction in directly impacting students' academic journeys. Some of the most rewarding, insightful, and meaningful moments of his career have been spent alongside his students. The classroom has always been a space of mutual learning, and he is grateful for the perspectives and insights his students have shared with him.

In his current role as Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Experience at Washtenaw Community College, Peter aims to cultivate a student-centered environment built on streamlined enrollment processes and expanded support services. Drawing from his own transformative journey at WCC, Peter feels a deep sense of responsibility to offer students a pathway to growth and success; and that pathway begins with ACCESS. Committed to a holistic approach to education that nurtures both academic excellence and personal development, he sees his role as part of a collaborative effort with staff, faculty, and students. Grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped him, Peter is both optimistic and humbled about the positive impact that can be achieved in the lives of WCC students.
